- Newsletters are a great way to build an audience, find out what they need, and sell to them. No matter what product you’re building, you have that audience always.
- When your time horizon is years or even a decade, you aren’t as discouraged as much if you’re not seeing the growth you’ve set for yourself.
- If you’re committed to doing your newsletter, it doesn’t matter if the growth isn’t there right now because you have years to build.
- Set the bar really low with a very long time horizon.
- Keep focusing on the next article. And then the next, and the next.
- The problem that comes with more opportunity is jumping to the next thing that doesn’t necessarily mean it will be successful. Seeking out the next opportunity maximizes your exposure to opportunities, but jumping too often doesn’t allow you to capitalize on that opportunity.

- Push yourself past the executing of starting on a new idea.
- By jumping from one decision to the next you’re undermining your progress in any direction.
- Every newsletter creator should set a goal to commit to their newsletter for at least 5 years.
- Set your goal to a much simpler level to achieve.
- If you’re going to start a newsletter and commit to it for 5+ years, make sure it’s something you want to write about and do for that long.
- Just contemplating committing to 10 years of a newsletter, you’ll very quickly figure out if you’re wanting to do this. It’s a great thought experiment.
